We were almost in the same sitution last year but in the case the Principal went around hand picking the board members. Board members were upset because it wasn't done according to the By-Laws that we have and the Principal doesn't belive in taking nominations off the Floor which is entirely the correct way to do it if it's stated in your by-laws.

LUVMYKIDS is right - check your bylaws. Those are the rules by which your organization operates. It should cover how and when your elections are held.

Voting should be spelled out there, too. If it doesn't, I believe the general rule is "one vote per membership". If you have individual members, then each person who is a member gets a vote. If you have family memberships, that's usually one vote per family.

Check those by-laws. They should state when and how elections should be handled. As for the "both parents voting" issue, if they are members they should each receive a vote, unless otherwise stated in your by-laws.

I need some advice. Last Wednesday we had elections for PTA executive boards. Some one was nominated off the floor and they became the new PTA President. Everyone who attended that meeting was happy except the the people that lost and the principal. Now they are saying that the elections are not valid because the elections are to be held in May. Meanwhile it stated in the March agenda that elections would be held next month in April. Also can two parents vote or is it one parent vote per famiy.
