The 'right' decision is not ever the 'easy' one, is it?

You are correct. Stick to your guns. Make copies of your Mission Statement and Bylaws and hand them to whomever gives you grief.

I admire your courage and wish you luck.

Teacher's Strike was created by menabino
Our PTO by-laws state that our organization "shall be noncommercial, non-sectarian, and nonpartisan." Our teachers have gone on strike, and now the PTO president is getting pressure from some PTO parents. They feel we should be supporting our teachers in various ways, including spending our money to buy them lunch, or coffee, etc. I helped to write the by-laws, and feel that by definition, we cannot, as an organization, become involved this way. Has anyone come across this situation before? We have made it clear to the parents that if they want to support the teachers, it is certainly their prerogative, but the PTO money should be spent on the children, not striking teachers. Any comments?
