I'm mad at the principal

You have lots of directions to go on this one.

My personal favorite option is to tell the Principal to get a grip or get a life. Pick up your things and tell her that when your son is accepted as a volunteer too, you'll be back to work at school. Your son volunteers his Mom's time to the school; and quite frankly a mature 2nd grader CAN be of help. Tell the Principal that until your son is welcome to be with you, you'll be working PTO issues from home.

Or... ONLY work until school's out and the politely inform the Principal that you aren't willing to leave your 2nd grader alone in the lobby (as if he has cooties or something).... and leave for the day... and leave the PTO stuff there!

In the mean time.... 40 hours a week?

Oh... and no, I don't think you're unreasonable.

I'm a PTO pres. with a new principal. We have a great parent group and I work my bu** off to make sure things go well. We are currently doing our big fall fundraiser and I worked 7-3 today (with no pay, of course.) I asked my son's teacher to send him to the office after school, since I knew I wouldn't be home to get him off the bus. He hung out with me a few minutes while I finished counting some money and answering a million questions. The principal then comes up and tells me no children should be in the back office and that my son needs to wait in the lobby for me from now on. I'M SO MAD!! I volunteer my time for almost 40 hours a week and this is what she says to me! I understand she doesn't want tons of kids back there, but I think exceptions should be made, depending on circumstance. Am I being unreasonable or is she off base? I'd like some input before I decide how to handle this. ps...My son is a 2nd grade honor student...very well behaved. No one in 3 yrs has ever complained to me about this before. WHAT DO YOU THINK??
