Hello
We do our appreciation for the whole school - staff, teachers, custodians, etc. We send everyone an personal invitation to the luncheon in there honor. It is done on a half day as a luncheon since the children go home and they still stay in school. We do themes each year the best was luau and mardi gras. We have done give aways, favors, raffles, etc. Before that we send out flyers requesting the parents to donate home-made or store brought food and beverages. We break it done so we can keep track - how many meats, salads, rice dishes, etc. Whatever we do not have we request in whatever area with our reminder flyer. The food the parents bring in is sensational. Everyone eats alot and is stuffed. Whatever is left we give to a shelter. We have a budget of $400. We buy the paper goods, decorations, give aways, ice, extra items that we do not request the parents to bring and things so they can take home food. Everyone thanks the PTA and the parents.

Last year our PTA created a Teacher's "Walk of Fame" in the main hallway. It was the hit of T.A.Week! The Principal, teachers' and staff's names were all placed on individual stars with glitter glue. We used duct tape to "attach" them to the floor and laid them down the evening before teachers arrived for the grand finale on Friday of T.A. Week. All the teachers had fun locating their name on the "walk". The walk was kept up at the teacher's request for another week. All the students (as well as custodians) were very respectful of the walk and we didn't lose a single star due to somebody stepping on it. Many teachers took their star after the event and hung it in their classroom.

We have the children bring a gift every day.

Monday: Give a teacher a hug day! (the older kids bring in huggs, the candy)

Tuesday: Bring a flower day!

Wednesday: Teacher supply day! Bring something to make your teachers day easier. the teachers love this, they get everything from post its to gift cards

Thursday: chocolate day (the teachers favorite)

Friday: Make a card for your teacher day, the teachers talk about the cards for years after.

We also do breakfast on Monday, Lunch on Tuesday. (The board takes care of Wednesday) And treats on Thursday

The teachers love it all and always look forward to it. The lunch last year was a taco bar, With the fixings for everything.

Good Luck!

What kind of gifts do you give the teachers. That is the one problem I have, is picking out a gift that would work for all the staff?

For teachers appreciation week, we got a parent for each class and had that parent or two watch the class while all the teachers in that particular grade went to lunch at a local restaurant. We had each child bring .75 to help cover the cost of the lunch. The teachers did not rush, because someone was watching their class and the parents got to know the class. We have a staggered lunch schedule, so some parents supervised 2 or 3 grades on that day. We also let the students know it was teacher appreciation week, the week before. We asked each student to bring : Monday, a home made card; Tuesday a candy bar; Wed. teachers favorite drink can of pop or juice; Thurs a flower from the yard; Friday a homemade gift or school supply for room.
