PTO Growing to fast!

16 years 7 months ago #139786 by NewPrez07
We started the year with our own class room. We recruited and were very active in the school. Helping teachers, being on call, doing what was needed, and where we were needed.

Then after two months we got a new principal. After 6 weeks, we have to give up or room. We will be able to move into another room to share with another resource room, which is used mostly for moms with young babies. This news was truly a kick in the stomach of the volunteers. We have one of the largest volunteer rosters in the history of the school.. We had tenative projects set for the upcoming year, to get more parents into the school. Now, we are moving out. Lock, stock and barrel. We will still be active and do what is needed. But we are locating about a mile away. We will communicate by fax or e-mail, take orders, request and then deliver the items or call in the volunteers for the school.

When asked why I was able to recruit so many volunteers, they all responded, I treat them with respect.

At the meeting with the Superintendent and Principal, They do not want a full time PTO in our school. It has become a full time job for a couple of people. They do not complain, they do not get paid.

Our hearts are heavy, but we are greatful to the PTO for their leadership. It has been great. THANK you.
