Glad you like'd it MT...I did it up on powerpoint with the stamps book sticking out that says "Forever". When you have to buy 8 gifts it still costs 65 dollars to do something that simple....d

The school my son attends Kindergarten in (not the one my daughter is in as it has the daycare program for the 1/2 day Kindergarten) had a volunteer appreciation breakfast which I thought was great. This was in appreciation for all of those parents who volunteered within the classroom or in the PTO. The best thing is that this was put on 100% by the school staff. I thought that this was great and it truly shows appreciation for the volunteers. Since the PTO are all volunteers I liked the idea of the staff putting this on and not the PTO having to do it.

I've just sent in the boys end of year presents. It was a book of "forever stamps" with this poem. You could also just send in one stamp if you have a lot to say thanks to...

Dear Mrs. _________:
Some stamps send our cards across miles and miles; some get collected and put into books.
Some stamps are placed on a package we send…And say “First Class” or “Will break if shook”
But so very few stamps last forever we know and many don’t stick from the start
But the stamp that you’ve left is forever and more…it’s a stamp that you’ve placed on a heart.
Please think of our boy when you reach for these stamps as forever your stamp will stay…A part of his life, a part of his youth, a lesson of love taught each day!
Thank you for a terrific year!!!!
Sincerely

Here is what one school did for end of the year (teacher appreciation happened during teacher appr week, this one was for the volunteers):

Each teacher sent a note home with children of parents who volunteered during the year in the classrm or elsewhere at school (field trips etc) and invited them to end of year tea.

Just before school, all volunteers assembled on playground with their childs class (ALL the kids came to the field), and principal thanked the parents and spoke about the value they bring to their school and to their childs education, by being present and helping during the yr. and showing they value education by being involved (not slighting the working parents though). Teachers walked around and passed out a bookmark with a small thank you note, to each of their class parent volunteers there.

Kids went to class and principal invited parents to cafeteria for coffee and baked goods, and to select a book that the teachers had donated (sort of a white elephant book donation mixed in with new or gently used books).

It was a nice way to end the year. And didnt cost a lot of money to the pto or the school, and kids got to see the principal acknowledging the work of all the parents they see during the year, helping out around school.
