Number for non-profit donations

Thanks for the help. The paperwork from the IRS just said, you're now federally non-profit, not an explaination of what number you give and all that.
Thank you again for the help!!

Yes, the EIN is the number you provide. There's nothing special about the number that indicates that you are now tax-exempt (i.e. you shouldn't say "this is our tax-exempt number"), but having the number makes it easier for people to verify that status with the IRS.

My PTO has finally won the waiting game and is now "exempt from Federal income tax" under section 501 c 3. So my question is this...when we write donation request/letters, what # do I put on there to tell the companies that we are non-profit? The only # I have on this letter is the EIN. Now that we are non-profit is that the number we give people???
Thanks
