Who do I call to report them.....

First off, are you a branch of your school or your own separate 501c3?

If you are part of your school, talk to your Superintendent &/or School Board. They would have authority over this group and would have the final say, so to speak.

If you are 501c3, it may still help to talk to your Super & S.B. They can not technically/legally "do" anything about the activities of this group, but they can make it very difficult for them to operate by not allowing them in the school(as a group, not as parents), not accepting $, not allowing anything to be sent home w/the kids, etc. If this does not make a difference, your next step would be speaking w/ the IRS. However, I don't know how much they would really be interested in a parent group- even though it would fall under their jurisdiction, they have bigger fish to fry.

I think your best best is to rally your fellow parents. These are all of your children, and they/you have every right to be involved and demand that this group comply w/certain standards.

You say they won't vote in bylaws. If there are not bylaws, this group does not technically exist. Just something to think about.

Good for your for not taking this. It makes me so mad when these parent groups become more about the parents than the kids.
There are a lot of people here w/personal experience w/this type of situation & just a lot more general knowledge about this kind of stuff than me. Does anyone have anything more that could help Jazzy? Good luck to you!

Sounds like you definitely have a sticky wicket on your hands...

But I'm confused...are YOU on the board? You said all the new board members have left? Why is that? And does that include you? If you're not on the board, how do you have access to this information? If you are on the board, why aren't you adopting the by-laws? Are there any by-laws at all, that can be referred to for resolution?

You may have to go to the Superintendant for assistance.

I give up. They will not let me or anyone else do and audit. They won't vote in ByLaws, the past minutes are all wrong, I do know they have not kept any record of the cash coming in other than a deposit slip, some of the checks issued were blank. Who can I turn them into. All of the new officers have left, we are fed up. We have done nothing but fight with the old officers. They're not in compliance with anything. What do we do? We thought the principal and school staff were on our side now all of a sudden they don't want to get involved.
