running for PTO again?

18 years 3 months ago #61065 by Serendipity
Hi! It really depends on what your bylaws say. Some say you must have a child at the school while others do not. The bigger thing I see here is why is this person just being given the job of treasurer without having to run for the position. Again it depends on what your bylaws say, but typically you need to run for and be elected to the position. People are not normally just entitiled to have the position they want. You really need to ask for a copy of the bylaws to see what they say.

running for PTO again? was created by <unregistered?>
I am currently interested in running for PTO treasurer at my sons school. I recieved a phone call from the upcoming to be president and said the only postition open was secretary if I was interested. I said yes and asked who was running for treasurer, she said is was the vice president from last year. My quesiton is the vice president does not have a child at the school anymore. the elementary school goes to 5th grade and her son is in the 7th. Can someome run for PTO even if their child is no longer in school their? It is difficult to institute new ideas to an old dog we have learned from the past year.
