Hi!!! Usually you form a by-laws committee & write/amend the by-laws. At your next pto meeting, you present them to everyone. If there are no changes to be made then you can vote to accept the by-laws as written. You can amend the by-laws as needed & present the changes at the next pto meeting...... Good luck!!!!

You will follows Roberts Rules to a sense. I believe you must annouce to your membership when your voting of bylaws will take place. I would suggest probably contacting a neighboring School District to get copies of their By-Laws they use. Each school can have seperate ones and they do not all have to be the same.

Our school is only a few years old and our PTO has never had bylaws. I just became VP recently and the current VP was promoted to Pres. PTO is currently in negotation with the school board to create new bylaws. What is required to make brand new bylaws in effect? Does the board have to vote on the bylaws? Just the administration? All the members of the PTO?
