I suggest you add something to the effect of promoting community interaction. This basically it allows throwing any kind of activity (party, get-together, whatever)if it helps people interact with each other without having an explicit educational or fundraising purpose. Our charter says;
The purpose of the XYZ School PTO is to support and enhance the education of the children at the XYZ School by fostering a spirit of cooperation and promoting open communication between families and staff of the school.
You want to specify the widest general goals so that you are not limited in the future, yet specify it so that funds can not be used improperly (like paying for the board's trip to the Bahamas!)
One that I helped someone with used the following:
XZY PTO exists to support XZYZ Elementary School. The PTO provides volunteers, coordinates extracurricular activities, supports school programs, and raises supplemental funds for programs, equipment, and services that benefit the school, its students, and teachers.
At least that was the draft language we were working on during their application process. I can't say for sure if they tweaked it later.
This is what I had for 1a : The PTO will provide goods in the form of assignment pads and folders for each student (individuals) of ABC School every year. The bulk of our efforts go toward providing services for our students such as in-school educational assemblies, field trips, cultural diversity programs, etc. A detailed listing of expenses for these programs can be seen in Attachment D – Financial Data.
For 1b, I just marked it "No" as we don't do anything for any (other) organizations.
I need help with Part VI Members. What exactly do they want for 1a, 1b, Describing each program of your group that provides goods, services and funds to these individuals.
