Selling donation on EBAY

Thanks for the information. The donor wants for the PTO to get the most money for it, so I think she will be ok with it. I agree we need to respect what the donor wants to do. I'll propose this idea to her and see what she says, if she is ok with it I think I'll go that way, Ebay sounds much better for an item like that!.

Thanks you all

My main concern would be the donor of the item--was it donated for a specific purpose and how would the donor react to you not using it for that purpose? If he/ she agrees that you should do whatever you can to get the most money for the item, then great! But if he/she wants it used as an auction item at this event, I would hesitate to use it for another reason. Not sure of the legalities, but it would seem unethical to me to go against the donor's intentions.

Lots of schools and non profit groups auction things off on Ebay. There are even companies out there who will run them for your group if you do not have the know how to do it yourself. I agree that you most certainly get more money for it that way. I would however let your parents know you are auctioning it off on Ebay that way if any of them want a chance to win it they can. Good Luck!

Hello everyone!
This is my first time on the site. We are having an event at school on November (Carnival) and someone donated a beautiful organ to PTO to be auctioned or raffled. We were thinming about doing a silent auction at the festival but I was thinking that we would get much more money if we sell it on Ebay, since I doubt parents would have this kind of cash on hand. The owner paid 6k for it and it is in great condition. We are a 501C3 Organization, I need to know if I have any legal limitations to do this.
Thanks
