Here is the guidelines I use:

PTO Agenda for the month of ______________________________

( ) Call meeting to order......Welcome members, speakers, and guest.

( ) Please welcome our special guest speaker this evening.....

( ) Is there anyone present at this time that is not a member and would like to join? Dues
are $1.00 for this school year and this entitles you to vote on and bring up business.

( ) At this time I would like to ask the secretary to read the minutes.....Are there any
additions or corrections to be made? All in favor? Any opposed? If not the minutes shall stand as read.

( ) We will now ask the treasurer read the treasury report....Are there any corrections that
need to be made to the report? All in favor? Any opposed? If so the report shall stand
as read.

Committee Reports
( ) ____________________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________________

Old or Unfinished Business
( ) _____________________________________________________________________
( ) _____________________________________________________________________
( ) _____________________________________________________________________
( ) _____________________________________________________________________

New Business
( ) _____________________________________________________________________
( ) _____________________________________________________________________
( ) _____________________________________________________________________
( ) _____________________________________________________________________
( ) _____________________________________________________________________

( ) Any PTO related topics not on the agenda?

( ) The Vice-President will now take attendance to determine basket winners.

( ) The next PTO meeting is set for ________________________________________

Thank you for coming and drive home safely!

For the next meeting I may have to switch the guest speaker down to after the committee reports because of the fundraiser that the committee chose made alot of people mad last year and our guest speaker will be there to reassure that last year's problems will not happen again. The point.. depends on who your speaker is and why they are there. If you have a community person speaking you would want to welcome everyone and let them speak because they probably do not want to sit through your meeting.

I welcome everyone to the meeting and then go straight to introducing the guest speaker.

As for the order of our agenda we typically do board reports first then get on to new business, many times items in new business get taken care of in the board reports.

When you have a guest speaker, they should get to speak first. They should be able to speak and then go on their way. They should not have to sit there and listen to your meeting.

according to the rules when should i have a speaker talk at our PTO meeting? After the welcome when we do new business or doesn't it matter? I wasn't sure if there was a certain protocol to follow.
