no president or vice president for next year

We had the same problem about 3 years ago. No one was willing to come forward and lead.
The first meeting was held in September and many attended were 'strong armed' by the principal to take on positions. We came out ok.
Going 'inactive' questions are best answered by a not for profit accountant or lawyer, especially if you have 501(3)C status.
Best of Luck.

No one volunteered for president or vice president for next year.

Before our nominating and voting meetings I sent home fliers listing the activities the PTO sponsors and made phone calls to our active members. I made it clear that if no one volunteered for these two key positions the PTO could not exist next school year and the activities would not happen for the students.

Do we dissolve over the summer? Or wait and hope someone will come forward in September?

Do we have to dissolve, or can we be "inactive" for a year?

If we can go "inactive" (my choice) or must dissolve, where can I find info on how to do this? It isn't addressed in our by-laws.

My V.P. and I our dismayed that the group may cease to exist because no one is willing to take a turn as Pres. or V.P. We're both tapped out and need to take a break, but never expected this to happen. I don't think anyone believed us when we said we weren't interested in serving again and that it was time for new people with new ideas to be on the exec. board.

Any help you can give is appreciated. Our principal is worried, and I need to send a notice home to parents to let them know what the status of the PTO is.
