Bye Bye Press and VP says No

I totally agree with the position thing but this is with a new group of people that I don't know that well yet (new school) and some people say elect a new Pres, some people are saying let the Sectretary or Treasurer come up since they are next in command, its all confusing cause its not spelled out in the Bylaws. Thanks for your input!

If you need a Pres before you get back to school, call a special meeting to nominate and vote someone in. Let me tell you, I get relly frustrated with people who sign up for positions and are not willing to fulfill them. Why is this person the VP if she was not willing to do the job? Forgive me if I am snippy, but I have spent 3 years dealing with people who didn't want to do anything but wanted a "position." My position on this is, if you can't fulfill your duties, please resign so that someone can do the work that the group needs to have done.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Thanks Scottmom and I think that's the way a normal person might handle it but this VP says no and says she told the people on the Nominating Comm. that she would not do any Pres. duties at anytime and they still kept her. Remember this is a volunteer who can quit also. My real question is still "What do we do now that the Pres is gone and the VP won't step up, What's next?"

Our bylaws say the 1st VP will take over the duties of the Pres when he/she is not available. So regardless of whether or not said person wants to be Pres. they have to handle the responsibilities until we can vote someone into the position.

Recently we lost our PTO President, she resigned due to her jod, and the V.P. says she is not interested in taking on the Presidential duties, WHAT DO WE DO?????? Bylaws do not address past the VP taking the position. Help
