Parent Banned From Campus

19 years 1 month ago #60052 by mykidsmom
No, but our President was banned a few years ago. She nevr took it to court but did go into mediation and all in all evryone apologized. She had invited the Senior class to her home during school hours to finish a video for English class. Unfortunatly the teacher didn't fill out the paper work needed to approve this activity nor did she! Both parties admit to mistakes.

Now in your situation it sounds like a "they said-I said" situation and not sure where you should go but I would hope you would ask the school district legal council OR your own for mediation. We had a high school student that bragged about a late Saturday night party with a Middle School teacher that led to her leaving the school district. Whomever is telling the truth in this matter would be nice to know, but he was 18 so it's just a matter of gossip now.

Bummer. What if they have to pick up their child early? An appointment or something? Does the kid have to go out to the street and wait for momma? I have to go to admin and sign out kids early, when I pick up kid for orthodontist appt. Would happens then?

Our Mom was allowed to pick-up and drop off her children but now allowed inside the building. If there was an appt, arrangments could be made with the school and she could met her children with the supervision of security (yeah, we have security). This situation was different as she "didn't follow proceedures" and "broke the rules that ensure our students safety".

Please, I know you are mad and want answers, but do you want to put the school through lawyer fees (our school has spent over $100,000 THIS YEAR!) OR talk it out. Hopfully this way the truth would come out. Most important, this is the time to be truthful with our son but protect him. This is your battle and not one he should be any part of...but you knew that ;) .

May the force be with you, and please let us know how everything comes out!

Wow! If suppossed gossip were grounds for this at our school, there wouldn't be anyone to volunteer or work!

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

Our school district does have a policy where a parent can be banned from campus. One of our most loyal volunteers just got banned from campus after an incident with the principal with shouting and obscenities. I believe it is the principal's choice as long as it's documented and the banishment can last two weeks before it is renewed.

I have been a parent volunteer for the past two school years. May 03, 2005, I was called into the principal's office, and asked if I had told one teacher, another teacher was having a sexual relationship with a student. I had not even suggested such a thing, nor did I believe it. I told this to the principal. I was told I was banned from campus. I was escorted from the building by a deputy. My son attends this school, and I feel this has caused him a great deal of embarrassment. I am going to take this matter to court. Has anyone had this happen to them?
