Elected position vs. executive committe members

Our officers are elected. The chairmen are appointed. All are board members and have voting rights. There is only one person per position.
Straightforward and simple. :D

Our exec committee is elected. There is a nomination committee but nominations can also be taken from the floor.

The pres appoints committee chairs and volunteer cooridinators but these people are not part of the board.

Anyone that is a member (by paying a $1 membership fee and is a parent or guardian of a child in that school or a staff member) can vote. BUT I think this year non members have been allowed to vote (such as grandparents).

You can email me carmiebATyahoo.com if you would like a copy of bylaws. Be sure to put a subject.

Hi,

we are in the middle of creating bylaws, and I have a question that I want to bring up at the next meeting, but would like outside objective opinions.

On the executive board, do you have elected positions and/or appointed/selected positions?

Do the appointed/selected positions have a vote on business before the board?

do committee heads vote?

do you elect positions like "volunteer coordinator"? so they can vote?

is there a faux pa about allowing non elected persons vote?
