We currently and always are a PTO for two schools. We are a k-8 district (k-3 and 4-8) and a small town so usually most of us have children attending both schools at the same time. The schools are also situated a half block from each other. It has never been a problem for us.

We are also 501C and incorporated and it has no bearing as to your status. Basically you are putting the kids into two different buildings right next door.

We have been doing this all year! You really need two of everything!! Next year we have decided to have two of everything and to run the meetings together...the first 1/2 hour k-2 a 5 minute break and the next 1/2 hour 3-5!!
This was our first year as two buildings k-2 and 3-5. We wanted to keep it all together so this year we decided to have one PTO It wiorked OK but I (president) did not have any kids in the
K-2 building so I was never a presence there...I feel each building will be better served with their own officers ...we will have the same 2 major fundraisers together and allocate funds to one building if marked. We will also do teacher appreciation together. We feel this is a good plan based on our experiences this year...Our school district has k-2,3-5,6-8,9-12 buildings T this will make it easier for parents to attend the meetings for two schools at one time!!It sounds confusing but we are growing from a small school to a huge school quickly and we chose to try to keep the kids together all the way through high school. It is a unique way but we feel it's what seperates us from just another school district...I hope this helps i wish someone would have told us last year!!

We are currently a PTO for a K-8 school. We will split into two schools K-5 and 6th-8th in Aug. 2006. (Note: the current K-8 school opened this past August and we are a new PTO and just finished all of the "legal" stuff.)

Can we stay as one PTO for both schools? The two schools will be right next to eachother. Since we are a 501(C)3 and Incorporated can we stay as one PTO? Any advice?
