I was just surfing the net looking at some other school's website and I noticed another large private school in our city was having a big "gala" fundraiser and in their promotion of their fundraiser it said "raising money to supplement teacher salaries" among some other things. I was a little surprised to read that but it is not unheard of, especially at a private school because if you do help out with that, your tuition increases are less.

The PTA at our old school paid for the PE teacher and a Kindergarten aid but they weren't hurting for money either. Honestly it's the BOE's responsibility, and if you do it, make sure you remind them and your legislators CONSTANTLY that you do.
Our group used to pay for a part time teachers aide (2500), up until about 2 years ago.
I'm guessing the reason at the time was very limited funds in the school operating account. However, when the aide left after her kids graduated, she was not replaced. Instead, the job was given to one of the part time teachers for a year to help her out financially. The PTL stopped paying for the position at that time.
Now, the teachers all help each other, given that we are a very small school. There is no official teachers aide position.
Does any other PC/PTS/PTO get asked by the principal or school board to pay for part time teachers salaries? I do not believe this is the purpose of any of this clubs. Please let me know asap.
