OK--I checked with our PTO's tax guy and I need to send out 3 letters stating the info (name change, address change, keeping fed id etc) to the federal gov, our state, and our attorney general's office.

Has anyone ever had to make a name change to their PTO?? Our small school is closing and we will be going to a newly built school. Our entire student body is supposed to go to the new school and we just need to change the name, address. Thanks
Also, we are joining families from 2 other schools-I was thinking about forming a "PTO Committe" for the new school - which I would head up (our bylaws were amended to state any funds left after the current school year will go to what ever school our students go to) therefore, we could put deposits down on assemblies etc. (which I would have our current membership vote on prior - just to cover)
Once the changes were made (I am assuming to take effect in July) we could plan for the new school's first election to be held in late September. Let me back track by saying that I will send fliers out to the 3 schools that will be sending students to the new school looking for committee members - and invite the principals of each school so that everyone feels this has been done fairly and in the best interest of our new school and all students. The committee's main objective will be to plan PTO events for the new school's calendar to present to the principal - to create a budget - and to advertise elections etc.
I know this is a lot but I am trying to cover everything before I get started. Your thoughts on this committee would be great! Thanks all.
