Voting question

Thanks, it really does help. I feel I have a good relationship with the President & should be able to mention it without causing hurt feelings on her side as well.

Our past president also did this very same thing and nobody said anything. There are still some bad feelings and people wishing maybe they should have said something. Maybe try to bring up the subject like "I don't remember voting on this, did I miss something while I was in the restroom?" Or something like that. This seems to work. Our bylaws state that we are to vote as a Board and then we take the Board decision to a general membership meeting for approval and majority rules. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Voting question was created by msychel
We are a new school starting a new PTO. My children used to go to a school where the "PTO" was run by 3 or 4 people who did what they wanted, when they wanted & never invited anyone else in. So I am a newbie to all of this.

We are in the process of writing bylaws, so nothing is set as of yet. My question is when it comes to fundraisers and activities are we suppose to vote as a board or all membership or does the President just decide?

We had our first official board meeting last night. We had so much to go over and I didn't think anything of it at the time, but the President said, "These are the first 2 fundraisers we'll be doing."

I'm not sure everyone agreed with her, but no one said anything. I know the President's heart is in the right place & she is NOT trying to be controlling. If anything we have very little time & she's trying to make decisions quickly.

I don't want to step on toes. Should I say something or leave it alone.

Do other groups vote on such things?

Thanks,
Msychel
