Legal - Insurance Question

Tim is SO right! Make sure that you obtain a copy of the coverage for your organizations records. Before I asked the Financial Manager about the insurance, all 14 schools in our district thought we were covered. No, we weren't, but if we had a function at school, the BUILDING was covered.....not us. :(
Our PTO immediately obtained our own coverage. (Thru NPN!)

pomom -

I'd ask to speak to the district's agent and I'd ask to see the policy.

If something happens, then "the district guy said we're covered" won't cut it.

Cathie...When our PTO President questioned our insurance coverage, we made a quick call to the District's Financial Officer and were told that we were covered under the district umbrella.

Cathie,
I found that our School District Financial Manager was one who had the definitive answer as to what and who was covered and under what circumstances. Try that route as well.

Principal tells me we (PTO) don't need insurance because we fall under the government's immunity from prosecution as a school association. I disagree. Need the language to convince him - - - -PLEASE. Will this be addressed at the convention so I'll have something in writing to convince the board that it is money well spent?
