It sounds like you are going to have to confront the Treasurer. What she has done is illegal. I would explain what you found out, and ask what can be done to rectify the situation. The last resort would be to contact the DA's office. I really hope it doesn't come to that. Good luck and keep us posted.
Hi Everyone!! I have missed you all so much!! As you know, I was nominated for president of our PTO and lost by 8 votes. (You all know the real story on that!!) As anyone who thought they were running against no one, I started getting things together, gathering information on our PTO for the upcoming year. My father-in-law is a CPA for the IRS and looked on things from that end. PROBLEM: Our PTO does not have a tax ID number nor have we ever filed a tax return. Looking more into it, our PTO has been using the schools tax ID number to get things tax exept through local shops and warehouses. We put over $47,000 in the bank last year, that is including the $2,000 we started off with. I also found out that we don't have insurance of any kind. I had asked the principal about this and he said he would get back to me. Well, he didn't. It also came to light that the treasurer is doing work for one of our neighbors and he is paying her under the table. I am concerned with this. What would you guys do in this situation?? I don't want to seem bitter about the election. (F.Y.I.- The past president from 3 years ago got a job at a different school and her daughter is now in middle school, so I don't know who is gonna tell the persident what to do!!) I had intended on using this information to get the PTO back on the right track and to make sure everything was as it should be. HELP!!!
