turning away members

We had a situation last year where the secretary also chaired several committees without anybody being given the opportunity to step forward. She also half-did things and griped that none of the parents get involved. None of us ever had a chance to! Check to see what your bylaws say. If it is unclear, make the motion to ammend the bylaws where you can only chair one committee. Not only does this allow more people to get involved, it only keeps one person to overcommitting!

This is clearly a conflict for an organization. We had this happen this year. One of our chairpeople was asked if she would consider being VP as well as Curriculm Enhancement Chair.
She took on both position, however, noone was willing to do it. She has had several problems and issues some up but not from the general membership.
If there are people willing to be Chairperson of Committees, you should use those people. I understand this will be a very hard issue to bring up because of the Pres and VP being best friends but I would try to get it resolved.
Good luck

We just had our election for new officers and the executive board voted in head chair people, but our problem is our new vice-president is heading 3 head chair positions without even considering people who ran for the position. Our president will not step up to solve this matter because she does not like conflicts with people( plus our vice-pres. and pres. are best friends.) How do you explain this to a member who has paid their dues and volunteered countless hours to P.T.O.? Also is there anyone we can discuss matters with that is above our president?
