Dues Survey

Our PTO charges $5.00 per family. All money is considered a fundraiser (we only have two per year membership and one other). We have found that by having people pay dues actually encourages parents to join. They seem to feel more a part of the group when they are paid members. Also in our PTO your have to be a paid member to vote and become an officer.

We decided to be a PTO instead of a PTA because of the dues bein paid to others. We also decided NOT to charge dues because we don't want anyone to have one more reason NOT to volunteer. While $2.00 doesn't seem like a lot of money, we really didn't want to put ANY obstacles out there. That's my .02 cents, for what it's worth.

We don't charge any dues. Membership is open to any parent, and every member at a meeting can vote.

I'm wondering what everyone cahrges and pays (if you're a PTA) in dues.

We've been charging $2 for membership dues, and we've also been considering becoming a PTA. I just learned that where we are it would cost us something like $6 per member just in dues for county, state and national PTA. We'd have to charge $8 just to break even. I've also heard that PTA dues are different in different areas. So I'm interested in what any PTO's charge in dues and what any PTA's charge (and pay) in dues. Thank you.
