Budgets

I have some information about how to set up a PTO budget that I will forward to both of you. It includes details of our own budget. For comparison sake, our schook is Pre-2, 500 students, 28 teachers approx. We give each teacher and our principal their own credit which they can spend on any school-related items. We reimburse them after the fact. We pay for all assemblies, buses to field trips, and 2-4 family nights. There are other accounts of lesser amounts (see attachment to your email).

I would appreciate seeing someone's budget since in the fall I will most likely be a PTO prez. Currently, our PTO basically gives a specific amount to the principal to use as he sees fit. There are certain functions which we oversee (fund) but no real budget has been set up to say exactly how much we will spend for each thing. Some of the functions (such as Teacher Appreciation Luncheon) seem rather costly. Do any of you fund luncheons or breakfasts for the staff (including teachers, secretaries, maintenance, etc.) and how much do you budget for such things? My understanding is that we typically spend approx. $400.00 for this (staff of about 35 teachers & 25 other staff members.)Also, do any of your groups purchase gifts for secretaries, cafeteria workers, maintenance, aides, etc. when you purchase gifts for teachers, such as at the start of the new school year & during Teacher Appreciation Week? I'd love to hear your opinions! Thank you.

I am taking over President spot probably in the fall. I was very curious to what other schools budgets look like and how they are set up. If any one could possibly e-mail me a copy I would appreciate it.
