Hi All! I too would like a condensed version of RRO, as we have lots of new commitee chairs that just simply want to do their thing. we do have an agenda, but find people getting off focus and on to other topics. Also, we have a few personality conflicts and I am trying to smooth things over with out ruffling too many feathers. Any advice is welcomed

At Borders Bookstore, I picked up two different condensed books (150 pages)of Roberts Rules of Order for about $5 each. Easy, incredibly helpful reading. I've loaned both out, so I can't tell you the titles, but my advice is to go browse the shelves yourself, and take one or two home to read thoroughly.

Routinely, we use the voting procedures (i.e. motions) of RRO. We also use a meeting agenda, treasurer's report, minutes, and Bylaws, all of which are discussed in RRO. Most people probably consider things like a written meeting agenda just good common sense, but you can read all about the structure and purpose in RRO.

Your meetings will run more smoothly if you incorporate the best elements of RRO. Just be careful not to overwhelm your members with too much parlimentarian jargon. Don't let your officers become RRO snobs!
