Do you have bylaws for your PTO? Check with the school secretary if the PTO hasn't made them available.

They ought to have information on how to call a meeting, and the requirements on having elections.

I'm having to agree 100% with "gjcoram", and add that if you don't have meetings or elections then that puts the whole organization in jeopardy. Good luck! I hope you can get your PTO reorganized and under control.

I think that's pretty slimy. However, it might be difficult to prove that it's illegal, unless you have very specific by-laws.

Our Elementary PTO President has a daughter who is a High School Cheerleader and a High School Softball player. Her daughter has to sell adds and signs to pay for all her uniforms and camps. We have recently discovered that for the past couple of years our PTO president has purchased ads and signs from her daughter using PTO money. Her daughter gets credit for the sale. The signs and ads are $250 each. So she has advertised our PTO with PTO money to support her own child. THe signs say something like ABC Elementary PTO supports ABC Highschool...... IS this legal? We have not had one single PTO meeting this year. So there was no vote to say if everyone wanted to do this....We have not even had elections.....
