I think you'd have trouble prosecuting based on statements from the treasurer in the minutes; even if they're approved, it's not like the treasurer signed under oath.

It's really too bad that your district isn't more supportive.

In some disputes like this, I've heard one approach is to have the detective or a lawyer outline your case and suggest that you are willing to settle for some fraction of the alleged theft, which saves you the trouble of proving the full number, and obviously, saves her the embarrassment of a trial and conviction.

I have met with a detective and he informed me that my situation could possibly be prosecuted but I have alot of homework to do to prove the she actually took the money.

We have been through the audit phase and have all documentation except for the copies of each parents individual orders/purchases that show the amounts that were paid to our treasurer. We do not give out receipts. The only thing we have to go on is what our fundraiser companies tell us what our profit should be.

We have statements made by our treasurer in our minutes that state that we made XX amount of dollars on a particular fundraiser and small mentions of how the fundraiser would operate (selling howie cards for $7, our cost is $5). But it might not be enough. Santa Shop is definitely unprovable and that is where most of the money is missing I believe.

As far as past financial statements and ledgers, they are all made up. The only thing that matched were most of the debits, hardly and of the deposits were correct. She did EVERYTHING wrong and I mean EVERYTHING!!!!

I have struggled with what to do for months but have finally decided that I need to move forward with this. I have support but not from the district angle, they have wanted to hide this under the rug and have made me feel dirty and shameful. I can't believe that after everything I have gone through that I am going to continue forward but it is the right thing to do. It would be an injustice if I didn't.

Is there anyone out there who had the painstaking task of actually proving a case that had many roadblocks? I sure would love to hear what worked for you and what didn't.
