We've followed them since that site's start. Site hasn't been updated in quite a while, as far as I can tell. I'd be surprised if there's really much/many/any groups using that service. Trouble with that model is you need a critical mass of groups using for the model to make sense financially. Without that critical mass, the risk is that the site/service could just go away because the founder can't afford to carry the costs.

I'd be leery.

Ditto what Tim said, your school should be all set. I know in our district any grants that are written are done at central office.

Your principal is confused.

Your public school's EIN is likely the district's EIN.

An EIN is basically the number identifying an entity. Your public school is a part of an existing entity that most assueredly already has an identifying number with feds.

You should talk to your district office.

This may not be the appropriate site to ask this question - but the principal of our elementary school has asked me to help complete form SS4 to get an EIN for our public elementary school so that the school can apply for funding and grans. (Apparently they always ask for an EIN and the school has never had one). I have looked at the form and there are several lines that I am not sure how to complete.

Would anyone have any recommendations on where to go to get help completing form SS4 when a public school is applying for an EIN?
