jurijeka - we used to use that process but years ago the executives felt they needed the names of the nominators - perhaps to keep things on the up and up. Unfortunately they didn't define why it was changed.
Thank you for your comment!

well, in this case, I would look at the motivation of the 2 parents who are questioning the nomination. Why are they challenging it? What are they like, and what is the nominee like? I think in this case, since it's not set in stone, I would look at the players, and see what the situation really is.

Are they disgruntled they didn't win? Are they good volunteers with great values and work ethics? WHat do you know about the nominee ? Do they know something about him/her that would make him/her a VERY poor choice?

We never ask who is doing the nominating, only the nominee's information so we can call and confirm their acceptance.

We are in a pickle. Our nominations have taken place and the election form has been sent home to general membership for voting. A couple of parents called various executives with regard to one nominations validity. This person was nominated by a non PTer; someone outside of the school. Our by-laws clearly state a member is a parent, gaurdian or employee (teacher). However, the by-law nominations section does not clearly state who can nominate. In reviewing RRO we have not found wording defining who can nominate other than multiple references to the word 'member' when discussing the process of nominations. Half of executives are willing to let the nomination stand while the other half feel nominations should be done by PTers. What would your group do?
