Thank You Serendipity, for you'r idea's and support. Were such a small school, that we only had a President. And that was just so they could sign checks for venders when needed. We just all pitched in on the other stuff. (Vice Pres., Secretary, etc.) I know that's all changed now, and the only ones that can vote are the few (new) members, and since their basiclly best friends, I don't see anything changing. And they won't talk to any of us "old members". They don't send out notices to tell anyone that the elections are comming up, or anything. I haven't found any rule book to look at either. I guess I'll just keep pluggin' along.....
Thanks again...

Well, there may not be a way to get them back on track if they truly have their own agendas and are not there for the right reasons. I have suffered under people like this in the past. We tried everything and anything possible and they would not have any of it. As they say "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink". In the end we just bided our time and waited them out as the clock was ticking on them. Unfortunately you are in the reverse situation and time is on their side.

All you can do is try to be involved as much as possible and try to help out with everything you can. Can you run for a seat on the board? Can you chair events? Even if they shoot you down at least you will know you have tried to make a difference. Besides, maybe if things aren't going so well for them they will throw in the towel at some point.

Hi Everyone,
I hope you can help me, as I am stumped. I was a very active member of our schools PTO for years, and learned from whom I would say was the best at it. She worked her tail of every year with what was the most important..."The Kids"... It didn't matter that we had only a handfull of volunteers, or little money, or obsticals that hopefully no school would have to go through. The past couple of years that she was President, we even started getting the community involved. We, like many other schools, had something planned every day for "Teacher Appreciation Week". We would pay for things that would make the kids field trips a little extra special. Ice Cream or pizza parties as incentives.... Things like that. And after she left, we tried very hard to keep her "Big Shoes" filled.
The problem? The new PTO President has lost site on what is important...The Kids, The Teachers & The School. Apparently her focus was to get rid of all the "old PTO members" and get "all new". (We didn't have enough help to begin with, don't know what she was thinking.) Of course there were hard feelings, as we (old members) had worked through soo much, and had gone so far in a what I thought was a short period of time. It hurts me to see and the others to see the community involvement go down the drain. The activities for the children are gone, and I guess they still take care of the teachers for Appreciation Week. For the first time in our schools history, our major funraiser was cancelled. Well, postponed they said, still waiting to see if it happens... That hurt not only the kids, but the teachers as well. This was a joint fundraiser for the Teachers, school & PTO. Instead of admitting they can't handle it alone, or maybe they were to hasty in "getting rid of the old", they are letting what fabulous reputation we had, go face down in the dirt. For instance, one came up with an idea that took a lot of time, research, etc, but wanted all the recognition for themselves, and tried to do it all themself, which went belly-up! One take sooo much pride in her title, she can't see the real problem... our PTO is suffering horribly. No one wants to say anything for fear our school would end up with no PTO. I'm also afraid this will be continued next year, or longer as they have many children in this school.
I sure hope someone could come up with some ideas that could get them back on track.
Thank You so much in advance........
