revised by-laws

Your bylaws themselves should have a clause on how often they should be reviewed and what the process is to alter them. For example, my last group's bylaws had to be reviewed at least every two years but there were procedures for making changes more often if necessary. Check your bylaws to see if there is any truth to this "five year rule".

I agree with mommytlc too in that there should be no cost involved in this process. Perhaps your group uses an outside source for this review that they pay for?

It doesn't cost a thing to change your bylaws. We are reviewing ours right now. We will vote on the changes, make the changes, sign the new bylaws, and print out new ones. They should be reviewed every 3 years. Someone at our school board told me what to do.

A few Parent of our PTO (new Jersey) have raised some questins as to the necessity of a nominating committee. Some would like to change this "law". Those who are adverse state that "we can't change the by-laws for 5yrs." and that it is very costly. Is this true?
