I have mixed emotions about this, if you know that the person has been lying would you be able to trust the person to perform the duties that they are suppose to and not have to worry about it.
I mean yes the person has the right to volunteer without a doubt but do you want that person who has been lying to represent your school with business deals and things like that? How do you know what else the person has been lying about? A mistake is a mistake but I would worry about the lying part.
It is a hard call...I don't think it can be called black or white...
I would have to agree with Shawn to some degree as long as the offense is directly related to being near children. Sex offender, money, maybe even selling drugs I probably woulnd't want that. Other than that we make mistakes but at this point he is only a nominees.

The bylaws are kinda vague- is it really any of the presidents business??
As long as its not child related (ie sex offender et al), or money related... Its pretty moot and nobobys business IMO

I have a question, what would you do if you found out one of your nominees for elections was recently arrested for a crime not related to stealing, or hurting anyone... a Minor crime. Yet you now know that this person lied to the president about the incident, would you trust her and let her run. Our bylaws do say that an officer is accountable at all times to the organization.
