What do we do?

the first thing I would do is change your banking which it sounds like you did, make sure that the bank does not have her on the account at all!! I would then notify in writing by certify mail to all of your companies you deal with that this lady is no longer associated with any sort of office and does not have authority to do any business deals on behalf of your pto or school. I might even go as far as having the letter done up by a lawyer, sending it certify gives you a receipt (keep these) that the company received that info if they ignore it and place an order by her it would seem that your group would not be liable?? Might be a way to consider. Keep your ground on the money part...do not leave her alone with it!!!

We have been having a problem with a former member of our board and at a loss as to what to do. I could really use some advice. We had a treasurer who (at best) was overwhelmed in her postion and refused to let anyone in on the situation. She hid alot of activity, would not produce deposit slips, statements and or bills consistantly, and the project she chaired was also done without PTO knowing what was going on. We have removed her from her postion of treasurer and included being chairmen of her project. Since then we have found her "activites" to be worse than expected. We had to close our account and open a new one because she wouldnt give us old statements and slips to verify activity. There were only 4 entries made in the register since the begining of school! There were old bills that had not been paid, and much more that I wont get into. We are currently getting this mess cleaned up, although its taking months becuase we have to go back to track everything (the bank has been pretty helpful, as well as some of the vendor this person delt with...or screwed with, depending on how you look at it). Anyway, after seeing the mess she has put us in esp with the vendors (we sell Ice cream to the kids on fridays) we made it VERY clear she was not to have any dealings with the vendors as well as being taking her out of her postion. We allowed her to continue to attend the monthly meetings (which she has not come to) and she can sell ice cream, but she is not to handle the money (as far as counting and depositing) and she can not call in orders or make any decisions without approval from the board. Well, here is where the problem comes in. She concitered her removal a personal attack from only one member of the board (the pres) and will not hear that it was the entire PTO that voted her out. She throws a fit everytime a second person comes in the handle the money and makes everyone feel uncomfortable because she crys telling everyone that the pres doesnt like her and thats why this all happened ect ect. SO yesterday, she was asked to come in and help do inventory so that an order can be placed (it has to be done 2 days before by 2pm in order to recieve the order in time) by 1230 she hadnt arrived so someone else had to be called in to help place the order (it just happened to be the pres). The order was placed. Later on this person found out an order was placed and was angery and said that the 2 day deadline isnt right (we confirmed this with the company) and said she has put orders in the day before. she said that she was going to call the company and reorder. We left messages with the company that she is not to represent the PTO or the school and can not order, back when orginally dismissed her, but we think the company isnt real good with communication. Now we have to have someone wait at the school until the order arrives to see what order has been delivered and if its hers, we have to send it back. My question is this, what do we do with her? Although she no longer has access to the accounts, she continues to try and maintain as much of her former role as possible. She is going behind us and undoing things we have done. She is no longer a board member, she is simply a parent that volunteers at this point, at least in our eyes. Is there something legal we can do or at least threaten her with as far as false represention of a board member, and doing things specifically denied to her. I just dont think she is going to listen to anyone telling her verbally to stop, because we have done this for months with no results. What to do? And the principal isnt going to be of any help, he avoids any type of negative interaction as possible and continues to tell us its our problem (nice support dont you think?) anyway, any advice would be helpful, thanks
