Teacher Appreciation Week Appreciation Every Day

"During Teacher Appreciation week, we do something every day of the week. We just love our teachers....They really rock!

The first thing we do is go in over the weekend and spruce up the lounge. We bring in nice hand lotions and soaps, a new table cloth, and last year we made a pyramid of K-Cups on the table next to a beautiful floral arrangement. We stocked them up on K-cups which was greatly appreciated as the teachers buy their own.

Every morning there is breakfast of freshly baked muffins, fruits, breads, casseroles, etc waiting in the teachers lounge and a special themed lunch is also brought in. We divide up the days and meals by class (PS thru 8) so no one group has too much to do.

In addition to the meals, each day we have a special event. One day each of the students bring in a flower for their teacher as well as for each of the specials teachers (French, Art, Music, Library, IT, PE) and the office staff. Another day the kids all write notes of Thanks or draw special pictures for their teachers, something personal from each student. One day the teachers only get to wear jeans while our students are in uniforms (the teachers have a lot of fun with this one!). We cover recess duty for the teachers. One of the favorites is when we bring in the massage therapist that each teacher gets to visit for either a chair or table mini-massage.

At the end of the week we give a gift package to all staff members, the teachers getting a little bit more. Last year we made special wraps to put on Lake Champlain Chocolate Bars (made here in Burlington VT) that were given out to all employees in addition to movie passes (2 each) which were given out in cardboard popcorn containers. The teachers also received gift certificates for the concession stand.

Not only our teachers, but all our staff (including maintenance) is included in our appreciation week. We just have varying degrees of gifts.

We do some kind of movie night, a family fun day, and a Parent Social to raise funds for T/A week during the year. It just keeps getting better and better each year! Actually, I just saw a couple of new ideas I liked posted by some other folks that we may incorporate into our week this year!"
