Reading With Dads

“We had immense success last year with a program that came from Texas: Fathers Reading Every Day. We held two events. Dads came with their kids and, in small groups, were read to by a prominent dad from the community: the fire chief, the state patrol officer, the school custodian, the cultural liaison teacher. Then there was a 30-minute information meeting introducing them to the school and community librarians and the new online school library catalog. Kids got five free books for attending with their dads.”
