Think you’re covered? When it comes to parent group insurance, most people don’t know as much as they think—and that could cost them. Take the quiz to see if you know enough.

1. It’s the night before your PTO’s carnival. You:

a. Stay calm, knowing that if anything goes wrong you can handle it.

b. Can’t sleep. You keep thinking about all the things that could go wrong.

c. Can’t wait to see the kids having so much fun!

2. The song that best sums up how I feel about parent group insurance is:

a. I Got You (Jack Johnson)

b. I Like It, I Love It (I want some more of it) (Tim McGraw)

c. I Don’t Need You (Kenny Rogers)

3. When you hear about a parent embezzling from a group, you think:

a. Hmmm, we should really implement some financial safeguards.

b. It’s a good thing we have insurance in place to protect our funds.

c. That could never happen to us. None of our parents would ever do that.

4. When someone tells you not to worry—the injuries caused by the pile up of runners during the fun run is covered by the school district’s insurance policy, you:

a. Calmly let them know your parent group is already covered by insurance.

b. Run to the superintendent and beg for mercy, asking to be put on the district’s policy immediately.

c. Nod your head and say, “cool.”

5. The newly elected president tells you the group doesn’t need insurance, and you should not renew the policy to save money. You:

a. Do the yippee dance and agree—small groups who don’t raise a lot of money don’t need insurance.
