Hold a field day event for students and families.

Schedule a final PTO meeting, open to everyone, to recognize retiring board members and review how much money is available to start the next school year.

Make a special effort to acknowledge retiring school staff members (including custodians and other support staff).

Conduct or schedule the annual audit of the PTO’s finances.

Hold a coffee/dessert event for incoming and outgoing committee chairpeople and board members, as a thank-you and another chance to transfer notes and materials.

Clean up and take an inventory of the PTO supply closet.

Plan an end-of-year picnic to say one last “thanks for a great year” and send families into summer on a high note.

Send a welcome letter to incoming families who will be new to the school next fall, to introduce your PTO and board members.

Start thinking about a low-key welcome event for fall.
