Our school held its first holiday bazaar last year. We asked families to donate gently used items they just did not want any longer. We set up a store in our gym the day of the event and the children went shopping. We asked each family to make a donation of their choice, whether they gave or how much they gave did not matter. Each child shopped for that something special for each member of their family. We had a wrapping station, their gifts went home wrapped with a gift tag on them. Each child participated in this event, that is what makes this event so special. No one is excluded.
We ended up raising over $800. We were surprised at the amount we raised. We donated $200 to our local food pantry on behalf of our families. The rest went towards other fun activities we had during the year for the students. This year with the proceeds we will be taking our entire school to a movie before the holidays.
