Flag Football Fundraiser
“Last year our PTA decided to try a friendly staff-parents flag football game. Our two rival teams (Alabama/Auburn) play in November and we had parents and staff sign up to play on one of the rival teams. The teachers also were involved by joining their favorite cheer team. We contacted our middle school to be able to use their field, asked if the middle school band would play and the dance team. We had contacted a local DJ station to emcee the game. For the concession stand, we asked volunteers to bring in crock-pots of chili for the night. In addition, we held a silent auction. We asked several sponsors to donate items for that night but the big prizes were the autographed footballs by coaches of each team. We made shakers by collecting water bottles and putting in colored beads of the teams so the children could shake for their team. We also bought small footballs for the cheerleaders to throw into the stadium. The weather last year turned out to be extremely cold. This year our football game is being held in Oct so hopefully it will be better. The response was very positive and it was great to see families coming out to support this event."
