Bags of Fun

As a fun and mysterious variation to popular theme basket events, the Broken Bow PTA in Broken Bow, Neb., holds its annual Bid-a-Bag Bonanza. Attendees bid on donated bags filled with goodies, and each bag has its own theme. This year’s themes included gardening, cooking, and movie night, as well as “Girls Night In” and “It’s 5 o’Clock Somewhere.” Attendees know the bags’ themes, but not their exact contents. The average bid for the bags was $40-$80, with one filled with gift cards for area retailers that sold for $450. This year’s event netted the group more than double the profit of last year’s, the first time the PTA held the event.
