HELP!! We have no officers!!

18 years 4 months ago #114553 by Momski
There must be some underlying issue you are not aware of, or someone is being polite and not saying.

It could be the perception that you're a clique, or a few power parents got a bad first impression and shared with all.

Let the group sit for the remainder of the year.

This happened at our Middle School. Our Parent group disbanded. I couldn't stand the leaders, the way they ran meetings and decided to help a specific teacher instead. I was very happy and the teacher was very happy.

Things cooled down after a year and now there is a new group of energetic parents starting it up again.

Like the Phoenix, sometimes life arises out of ashes.

Let the group go and do your own thing. You'll be much happier for it.

Well nothing has been done yet. I am getting help with putting the meeting together (refreshments and such) but no one wants to help with the OFFICAL stuff. I like the idea of a Co-Chair. I don't think there is anything in the By-Laws against it. But the Principals might object. If I could just get some help for the rest of THIS YEAR then we could start fresh NEXT YEAR!! I have so many ideas of what I would like to do for next year like Candy Grams, Pizza Night and stuff like that. But I can't do it this year and I can't do it alone. :(

Wish me luck for the Big Meeting on Tuesday!! ;)

Monkey Girl, whats happening with your problem? Did you get any officers. I just went to a meeting that was being run by 1 person because all the officers are doing other things. The person has meetings by himself. He feels if he doesn't get any help he just does the best he can. Another parent group just got a secretary/treasurer today because nobody else wanted to do it. I really commend parents for all the extra work they do trying to make the parent groups work. I take my hat off to all of you!!!!!

You have to check your bylaws. Some do, some don't. Hope everything goes allright.

Can offices be held by two people(i.e. co-presidents and such)? That can sometimes make a difference for people. If two friends can take something on together, it may not seem so daunting.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.
