We combine our open house with our first fundraiser of the year. We do theme baskets about 15 of them and the value is around $50.00 ea. The hospitality committee will use the theme baskets as decorations as well as provide refreshment. We will have short presentation and then break up so everyone can walk around to the different committee tables to hopefully get more volunteers. WE are also having a form sent home asking parents to let us know their skills and hobbies and if can call on them if we need them. Then we will break up and go see the teachers.

We have found by doing the theme basket along with open house it gives people a chance to mingle and get to know each other as well as helping the school.

For our scavenger hunt we do the following:

Every child is given a bag that has a small compass, map, and sticker sheet. Each child bags are coordinated with a different color depending on their teacher. Each child then has to find the following places in the school such as: the library, office, music room, cafeteria, gym and lastly there classroom. Every time they find a place they place a sticker on there sheet. Our stickers correspond with the room like if they visit the art room they get a sticker with crayons on it. The last place they visit is the gym where all the teachers are introduced, get snacks, refreshments. We then have the children build there own ice cream sundane with the teachers. They love it!

Our school open house is facilatated by us! We do refreshments, have our book fair, families are allowed to walk around and say a quick hello to their teachers. It is nice, we also have organizations set up info tables such as PTO, PBIS, scouts, the fire dept, etc. I do love the scavenger hunt thing...I am going to steal that! This year we will have a new principal so I am thinking what we can do to incorporate that! Maybe make him one of the clues..ha ha ha
