We had a couple of kids in my class that didn't celebrate holidays and birthdays, they just watched us. I felt sorry for them but they never complained or anything.

Lake, your teacher may just not want to have her birthday acknowledged. I do wish people would forget mine all together, especially as I get older. I am sure she doesn't mind your parent group celebrating other's birthdays.

I really like all of you ideas. We have a problem with some of the teachers at are school who don't want us to do this because they are worried about families who don't celabrate holidays or birthdays for what ever reason. How have you delt with that?

One day each month we have parents bring in snacks for our staff with birthdays that month and each student receives a cupcake during lunch. The staff members also each receive a small gift. This year we are given them coffee mugs, a school magnet & stationary items. Students and staff really appreciate being acknowledged!
This site is sooo imformative! Everyone has great ideas! :D

This year our PTO is presenting each child a book on their birthday. The kids our excited and surprised that they get a new book. Our school is K-8. I've had a number of people tell me it's a great idea.

Our principal does a weekly lunch with birthday kids. She takes them in a conference room, turns on cartoons, and they eat lunch and have cupcakes. Our head cook found a cake dish on a stand that rotates and plays "Happy Birthday". She found it at a flea market!

We have Success Celebrations every Friday and the kids that have had birthdays get to come down and receive their birthday certifs. The whole school sings "Happy Birthday" to them. Our FRC gives computer made cards and pencils.

I used to do birthdays on our web page. I would just put the child's name and last initial.
