VOLUNTEERS

i know it is just a simple suggestion and you might already do it, but a short written thank you note to each of the volunteers after each event has been just the ticket for our group. not many people take the time anymore but the volunteers really appreciate it and let others know. we have doubled our work force.
we also recognize the volunteers in our monthly newsletter so that the whole school knows too.

dcd,
If it's not too much trouble I would love those ideas too!

Something that is just "falling in place" is we asked the local Returned Peace Corp Volunteers to speak about friendships to groups of students (we divided them up in 12 groups). The e-mail went out this afternoon and we have 4 volunteers for next Thursday already! Is this any thing on your list that is quick & flexible!

Any & all help - will be appreciated. (It's so funny - I decided (today) to call our volunteers "Helping Hands" so I could do something with the hand theme in mind at the end of the year --- without reading the previous posts.)

A Volunteer Coordinator - just getting started
Linda

Wow, your ideas for recognizing Volunteers - are Wonderful!. Keep sharing any others with us - since we all need fresh ideas and maybe others will share some of theirs once they read yours!

I went ahead and took liberty to send you the other gift ideas that I've shared over the past months - and noted again - please take just about any of the ideas for Teacher Appreciation and use them for Volunteer Appreciation. The candy ideas work well in that manner too.

Thanks for opening up this topic - since volunteer appreciation is very important to a successful organization of any kind (PTA, PTO, and all others.)

THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR AS PRESIDENT OF OUR PTO. I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO MAKE A POSTER (LARGE) IN THE ENTRANCE OF THE SCHOOL AND I CALLED IT HELPING HANDS AWARDS. AND I MAKE UP MY OWN AWARDS MONTHLY AND PUT THEM UP SO EVERYONE CAN SEE AND I WRITE ON THEM SOMETHING THEY HAVE DONE THAT WAS MEANINGFUL. AT THE END OF THE MONTH I GIVE THEM THE AWARD WHICH I LAMINATED AND I HAVE A LITTLE SUVIVAL KIT FOR VOLUNTEERS THAT I MAKE UP AND GIVE THEM THEIR CERTIFICATE WITH THE SURVIVAL KIT. I HAVE ALITTLE FOAM HAND THAT IS STICKY ON BACK AND I ATTACH THE SURVIVAL KIT WHICH I PUT IN SMALL BAG TO THE CERTIFICATE. SO FAR I HAVE GOTTEN COMPLIMENTS. MAYBE THIS WOULD HELP.
