Good for you! Your group is doing the right thing. I'll bet you don't get one "hysterical" parent either, they'll just throw the toy away and move on.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Thank you all SO MUCH for your advice. I talked to our principal last night and he is all in agreement. A special thanks to Shawn for opening my eyes to the legal aspect of this issue. You know, sometimes you feel like such the "odd man out" when you stand up for your morals and ethics. It is so good to know that there are people like you out there who don't think I'm so "odd." Thanks again!!
P.S. We have fliers going out next week!!

As a member of the Game Manufacturers Assoc -- heres how much it could cost --- Originally miniatures were made of lead and other alloys -- we'll lead kills and in the 70's all were changed to rallidium and pewter --- a few balked because the cost of the metal and production were costly -- some balked and were sued for Millions of $$$ in the 70's --- they are also no longer in business -- if you knowingly dont tell -- not only is lead in toys illegal you could and will be sued for Billions -- Is it really worth the chance

Give your board my email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.-- I can email info about how much it could cost them for their stupidity

YES, YES, YES...it is the right thing to do. You can easily do this without causing hysteria by not handling it hysterically. Just send home a flier (or half flier) with a photo and a note that says something like only 12 were distributed but you feel it is your responsibility to inform the parents to check their children's toy inventory and ensure that no one has the toy on hand. You will be heros if you do this right but if word gets out that you knew of a possible safety compromise and didn't take agressive steps to inform the parent population....THAT would be a travesty. d

Whether it was 1 child or 100 children, I would feel morally and ethically bound to inform parents. Why would there be a hysteria, especially if only 12 kids received these toys, if you explain clearly which toy is at issue?
