President treated badly by board members

PTOmom-

I know how you feel. I also had problems with my boardmembers having hidden agendas. My VP decided I was incompetent and took over doing my job and leading the PTO. Everyone including the Parent Liaison of the school was in on it. The Parent Liaison even told me I can't come back and be "president" and I needed to "apologize" to the board before proceeding. Just hang in there and do your best to keep your gaols in line. Eventually the parents will see the problems in your group and demand change.

Thank you all for your help. It felt good to vent the problem. I will be trying out all these ideas. And next year will be just fine I am sure. I have myself said let agree to disagree. Its really the only way. There is no way a room full of women are all going to absolutely agree on everything.

Thanks again!!!

That sucks. I hope everything goes well for you next year too. I just went to a leadership program. The person you spoke about forgot the there is no I in team saying. Everyone should at least try to respect one another. My favorite saying when we reach a stalemate is: We agree to disagree. Then we can move on.

We are a year of a bunch of changes and I know there are wisphers that "she" knows she can do better than me. No one likes her though and no one likes what she has to say about me. I mean, I've been a parent for years and this is her third year and she doesn't have near the reputation or friendships I have earned!

Anyway, I love LUV's idea just gotta do it without putting yourself to their "level".

Queen: I did the same thing. And it has been a mess. People don't want to volunteer and most of the stuff has went down hill. Even the new Treas. and Sec resigned already. Be careful what you ask for, huh?
PTO Mom: you could do as LUV says and also tell everyone that once the other conversation has concluded you will begin the meeting as you would hate to be rude and try to talk over or around them.

This similar thing happened to me, last year. Come to find out there was a hidden adgenda behind it. The very rude, pushy gal wanted to be president. So,when I realized that, I let her have at it. Well, to her dismay, this year has been a disaster! Due to her wanting "control" over the entire PTO. But with this everyone has learned that it takes everyone to help out and to respect each other. Now, hopefully this next year we will be back on track. But it did take a year of living it, to learn it. Best of luck to you!
