King/Queen for a carnival

maxybehr,

We do have ticket sales the night of. Mainly middle school kids and people coming in to play bingo. Usually about $2K.

Jill,
The pickle walk is a cake walk using pickles. In the past, we had a pickle plant donate individually wrapped kosher dills, but it closed. Last year a family donated the pickles and we vacuumed sealed them. It costs $.50 to play, we have 25 spots, and we give 3 out winners. Thats $12.50 per game with less than $3.00 for prizes. Pretty good profit.

We also have a "Bopper Hop". A cake walk giving away those headband boppers. About the same profit.

PottsvilleMom, Would you have a regular ticket sale at all? I guess there would be for those who don't want to get donations, right?

Thanks for the info PottsvilleMom. I really would like to try this out. If the income is that huge for us and a kid gets a bike, it will be even better next year.

I will take your info too C Brooks. All information would be a appreciated.

This year was the 9th official year of our Hoedown King and Queen contest and each year it gets bigger. This year we cleared over $20K.

For each 50 cent donation brought in by a student, they receive a ticket for the Hoedown carnival. Those bringing in the most are the king and queen, princes and princesses and win big prizes like bikes and boom boxes. Anyone bringing in $100 gets to Silly String the teachers at the Hoedown assembly. It's a formula that works for us. I know the kids look forward every year to the Hoedown.

We also give extra tickets to the teachers to distribute to kids who did not bring in money, but to be honest there are not that many. We have so many kids who have more tickets than they can use, that everyone is pretty generous in sharing.

We don't track how many tickets each game brings in. We just make sure we have plenty of games, that they move quickly (to prevent jams in the hallways), and that we have plenty of prizes.

Our King/Queen-Prince/Princess contest just celebrated its 50 years last fall! This event is highly successful, but we do not use tickets. I have some info if you would like it.
