Just a follow up. BT sent the check certified and we got it. Everything's looking up.

Thanks everyone. Box Tops is sending a 3rd check certified and the coordinator packet priority. We have a new coordinator this year and she needs the help. Our big problem is we had a very unreliable coordinator last year. She simply never did anything. If it wasn't for last year's pres. the labels would have never made it to BT. The old BT chair simply stop showing up at meetings and never answered emails or phone calls. She never went ahead with any of the incentives she had planned and never had any reward parties. We offered to help or take it off her hands but still no phone call back. She still lives here, every once in awhile someone sees here in town and she acts like nothing is wrong.

To make a long story short. We finally found a new person and left messages of what we were doing and told her to contact us if there was a problem. No phone call, new chair. But that meant we were biting our nails all summer waiting for the check and BT assured us we were due the money and that the check hadn't been cashed. I wanted to make sure all this effort wasn't for nothing. I still have a fear of finding a dung bomb on my front step some night.

We've had problems recieving checks from boxtops, but we always get them eventually. We're never sure if the check gets "lost"- our schools are huge and the amount of mail they get is staggering, or if it was never sent.

Our May check was never received. I had our coordinator contact boxtops- they told us when it was sent and would not reissue a check until 6 weeks after that date. After 6 weeks, we called and received a new check.

This has happened several times to us. I've never been sure if it's our fault (could easily get lost in the mail and recycled) or general mills' fault.

We received ours in early June. Box Tops is a great program and I'm sure the check is really lost in the mail. Check to see where the check goes to. If you are a coordinator you can go to the tab that says update school information and look there. Most of the time the checks go to the school principal and the rest of the information goes directly to the coordinators' homes. At least that is how I have my stuff sent. I didn't have any choice as to where the check goes. I think that might be standard practice for Box Tops.

Hey tradechi -

I'd do some checking on what address(es) they have on file. If it's a school address, then I might look to the "PTO mailbox blackhole" as a culprit. Here at PTO Today, we've moved to using home addresses whenever possible.

With more than 60,000 groups now running BoxTops, the hubbub would be a lot louder if they were not sending checks. I'm pretty sure that yours is an isolated error/issue more than any systemic effort to hold dollars. There'll be a solution.

Of all the collecting programs, we hear that BoxTops is the most responsive and on top of things. Of course, that's no help as you wait for your check, but I think you can at least rest easy that you'll gte your dollars (eventually).
